Doc Holiday

The actor who played Doc Holiday came over to me as I was taking pictures and asked, based on my goggles I suppose, if I was steampunk. This led to a good half hour of conversation with him and others concerning steampunk. He had only just recently heard about it and was very much interested.
He, of course, has most everything he needs. Just needs to punk it up a bit. Add some sort of science fiction elements and he’ll be set for the Weird West.

Ziplock Terrarium II

The art school I’m a student at has a “Crit Week” every year, basically they get a bunch of industry folk (curators, dealers, professional artists, etc) to come in and provide outside feedback on student work. I was commissioned to design/make the thank you cards the guests were to receive.
I decided upon a compounding of a prototype zine I never ended up producing in multiples and my ziplock terrarium business card.
Originally I was to have the design letter pressed, but a miscommunication caused me to go with photocopies instead, not such a big problem to me being an enthusiastic zinester.
Only 18 were made, a total of 4 different types of moss and lichen were used in various combination, printed matter on coloured paper has been affixed to a harder ivory card, all else pretty observable without explanation, note that the spine is backwards…

One of my good friends owns a catering business and asked me to display some cards in his shop! This is the first of the holiday seasonal "mock-up samples" for him.
